Have you heard the old wives' tale "Sow seeds 3x the thickness"? Packets have specific instructions on the depth to sow seeds. Some tiny seeds require surface sowing to conserve energy.
Containers should fit the size of the seed. Small seeds (like snap dragons) can be grown comfortably in a 288 slot container while larger seeds like (watermelon or squash) thrive in bigger 4-6 slot containers.
Having difficulty removing the delicate seedlings from a seed tray? Use a lobster or pickle fork to gently remove it. Be sure the root ball is intact.
